Happy Halloween
We're a day early, but to get you in the spirit of Halloween here's a classic live performance of Werewolves of London from the great American songwriter Warren Zevon. Check out his piano playing on the bridge and his shout-out to Joe Strummer of The Clash.
This guy is missed.

Happy Birthday to Peter Timmins
If you aren't a Cowboy Junkies fan, you're missing out. Today is the 44th birthday of the band's guitarist and sometimes-vocalist Peter Timmins. Here is with sister Margo and the rest of the band with the song that started it all for them: a cover of Lou Reed's Sweet Jane.

rooradio.com and roo@rooradio.com
Several people have commented that our website is down and the roo@rooradio.com email address isn't working. We switched to a new server a few weeks ago and it's been a nightmare of problems since. Hopefully things will be fixed soon.
Meanwhile, the best way to get is our alternate email address: rooradio@gmail.com.
Cheers!

Sunday Morning Over Easy: Why?
One of the cardinal rules of internet radio programming, so the experts say, is that stations should never, ever, ever run specialty shows. The argument goes like this: terrestrial stations have limited competition, and specialty programming on weekends can expand the station audience without alienating core listeners. Internet radio, by contrast, has such a diversity of offerings that each station should stick with its own format; listeners should always get the same thing when tune into a given station because they can always go somewhere else if they want something different.
I disagree. I would like to believe that the thousands of people who tune into Roo Radio each week do so because they trust our programming staff to have excellent tastes in music. Some of the music we like, though, might not be the sort of thing that we want to play everyday. It might be too experimental, too down-tempo, or maybe too chill to provide the soundtrack to 9 to 5 office work. And so we bring you this kind of music every Sunday from 8:00am to Noon (eastern) on a show we call Sunday Morning Over Easy. It's not exactly the sort of stuff you hear in a normal Roo Radio playlist, but it's good stuff that we think deserves to be heard. And because it's more mellow and laid-back, it's the perfect accompaniment to a Sunday morning, whether you're recovering in bed from the night before, sitting on the sofa with the Sunday Times, or doing some work in your home office.
For a better sense of the show, here's the playlist from today:
